Sermon English Text AKFPC / August 9, 2026 Rev. Yongjin Park
“I Drew Him Out Of Water” (Exodus 2:1-10)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
ANDOC is a state-owned enterprise of UAE and ARAMCO is of Saudi Aribia. These two large energy companies began to buy LNG ships to deliver their crude oil. Because of long war in Hormuz almost of LNG shipping do not want to enter there to load oil. They need urgently to handle directly shipping for selling oil to nations. Shipbuilding industry might be growing.
Once one door closes, the other door opens.
Today Bible let us know about Moses. This name means to draw out of the water. Pharoah tried to destroy people of Hebrew; it made them grow instead.
Let us read together Exodus 2:5-10.
“Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants are walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her slave girl to get it. She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said. His sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” “Yes, go” she answered. And the girl went and got the baby’s mother. Pharoah’s daughter said to her, “take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So, the woman took the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharoah’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.””
After moving in Egypt, people of Hebrew have been growing numbers. When they became stronger, the people of Egypt began to bother them due to fearing them. They made the people to be slaves. And they ordered to kill Hebrew boy baby once giving birth. Agony of people of Hebrew was great.
One day a couple of Levi gave birth to a son and hid him at home. But after 3 months they could hide him more. His mother made papyrus basket and loaded him in it and left him on the water of Nile River.
Then daughter of king Pharoah found him in basket and felt pity on the baby. She wanted to adopt the baby as her son. The sister of baby introduced baby’s mother as wet nurse. The mother could nurse her baby, and he became son of King’s daughter. She named him to be Moses, saying “I drew him out of the water.”
Verse 9 say,
“Pharoah’s daughter said to her, “take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So, the woman took the baby and nursed him.”
It was God when the daughter of king loved the baby with pity in first encounter. The daughter fully understood why the baby was there in the water. She felt pity for the Hebrew baby. She wanted to save the tiny life from the serious command of king
Verse 6,
“She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said.”
The heart to save is given by God, the mind to kill comes from evil. The daughter of king accepted the will of God to save the pity life from serious situation killing babies.
brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Let us share the heart of loving life with others. This comes from God who is love. God works through the heart of loving life. When we are feeling pity on life we work for God. God is working in us when we are loving lives with grace and love.
Yesterday shotting happened in a hamburger store in resulting some people lost their lives. It was the work of evil.
Abandoned dogs are sent to shelter and stayed there for some period. But after that period the dogs are being euthanasia. So, some people feel sorry for them. They adopted the pity dog for saving.
This kind of heart of loving lives saves the life of animals. This heart can save lives as well. Feeling sorry or pity comes from God not world.
Feeling sorry or loving life leads to saving life, having baby, protecting family, and keeping community.
Even though this world is so hard, the work of God sending life to this world cannot block. God is working through all lives.
Moses means saving from the water. God worked this salvation plan through the obeying people to the will of God.
We are saints and children and followers of God. We believe that God is working with love and grace. All life belonged to God. We belonged to Him as well.
Jail officers of Phillip have been saved and became saints once he felt sorry on Paul and Shilla. Aquia and Priscilla was used by God to deliver gospel of Jesus Christ to gentile world when they felt sorry for Paul who worked alone for kingdom of God.
This sinful world blocks life, but God opens life. So, God is grateful. Let us see only God with heart of mind of love.
Matthew’s Gospel 5:7 say,
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
A pastor is serving people of destitute with love. They are saved by his devoted ministry. This looks strength provided from God. The pastor says, “I am working this with loving life comes from God who is love.”
I Timothy 6:18 say,
“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”
God be with all of you, Amen.
