“Preparation For Lord’s Supper” (Luke’s Gospel 22:7-12)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
US has been bombing on Iran for regime change last week and war might be spreading over Middle East. Depending on traducing ground troops how long war lasts. In two months, US has been deeply involved in regime change for US interest. This is a phenomenon of new era that happened in the world. The world might be big changed from past world.
Peter Zeihan, the author of the book “The Absent Superpower” said, US doesn’t want to be controller of free trade and secure sailing in the world. Cold War was over and Shale gas provides top energy to US. There is no more interest in keeping the world safe with US cost.
Only US interest on South Korea is for technologies as semiconductor or shipbuilding. The relationship between two nations might be at a different level even though each has still big merits as ally.
Today Bible let us know how we focus on Lord with small hand.
Let us read together Luke’s Gospel 22:9-13,
“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked. He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you, Follow him to the house that he enters, And say to the owner of the house, “The teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?
He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there.” They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.”
Jesus wanted to have Passover dinner one day before he arrested. Lord asked Peter and John, his disciples, to find a room for Passover dinner with all of disciples.
Verse 13 say,
“They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.”
This is so special, not normal. Two disciples didn’t know the man, but the man provided the upper room furnished in his house without any hesitation when he listened that Lord needed that.
And there the Last Supper of the Lord happened, and Lord washed feet of his disciples with great Word to love each other.
Leonardo Da Vince painted the great masterpiece “Last Supper” on wall of a church in Milan, Italy. Jerusalem was crowded with many people who visited for Passover celebration.
Lord told them to enter downtown and to find a man carrying a jar of water, when he listened what Lord said, he will show an upper room for dinner, so that they could make preparation for Passover dinner.
When Peter and John followed what Lord told them and prepared it. This great historical event happened at this place through an unknown man. He kept in his mind only the name of the Lord. Once Lord wanted his one he provided anything Lord used. That might be his joy to give to the Lord.
And two disciples obeyed Lord and they did as Lord ordered. So, both obeying made a beautiful event of the Lord to the world. Love each other as I love you.
Luke’s Gospel 22 Verse 15 says,
“And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”
In the Last Supper, our Lord Jesus Christ planted great love in heart of his disciples to love each other. He taught them what they must keep and how they deliver it.
Love is Lord’s commandment to all. Through love we can overcome world and sin. Only love and Word of God will last in the world. To complete love Lord has sacrificed his precise body on crucifixion for our salvation.
His disciples followed His commandment of love to deliver all the world with Word and sacrifice overcoming sin and death.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord,
We are all called by God to save this world with love. Each of us has calling from God. We are listening voice of God and serving Him with our own. Even small thing, God will use us. Once Lord uses our small thing, this will be big grace. Lord makes it wonderful and gracious.
Let us serve the Lord with even small ones. Lord pleased us to serve our love for plan of Him to deliver many souls.
The thing that God wants is not big one. He pleases even small ones with faithful obedience. The unknown man might not have known that the room could be the great place for Lord’s last supper. He only provided the place with his lovely heart to the Lord.
When Aquia and Priscilla met with Apostle Paul to work together, their place became the center of delivering gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
When Lydia listened Word of God by servants of the Lord, her house became the church of the city of Philippo and center of delivering many souls.
Small giving, small consideration, small love makes great grace once we connect with our Lord.
Loving and consideration and loving can be made by those who have done. Let us do as we can do according to direction from God.
God always use warm heart for salvation and grace. Let us have warm heart and loving mind to neighbors as Lord taught us.
Matthew’s Gospel 5:7 say,
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
A pastor stayed in a town of US as sabbatical year. Some students and ladies came to him for worship and prayer because of no Korean church there. He led them to worship on Sundays and left there to return to his home church. But the people gathered kept gathering for worship after his absence. They became a good church and congregation later to serve God.
Matthew’s Gospel 25:23 say,
“His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things, Come and share your master’s happiness!”
