“God Making Dead Bone Live” (Ezekiel 37:7-14)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
I had a chance to talk with a family from Venezuela about recent situation there. I started to pray for the people there. Recently the crisis between Venezuela and US is getting increase due to bombings. Quarter people of population have moved out from this country because of political economic hardship for half century despite great natural resources which are the first oil reserves in the world.
Their inefficient management of society made themselves poor nations with great resources. If a nation is weak, there might be received interfere or control from others. All people must work diligently so that they must keep their nation with their own responsibility and to keep their own dignity as a nation.
They must get the right thought if they want to work diligently. And they must get the right faith if they want to think right. And they must listen Word from God if they want to get right faith. Learning Bible and listening Word guides us to way to restore life.
Today Bible teaches about restored bone from dried one once they touched with Word.
Let us read Ezekiel 37:7-10 together,
“So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones comes together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to it, “This is what the sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into there slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them they came to life and stood up on their feet, a vast army.”
People of Israel have been captivated by Babylon on B.C. 586 once they nation was destroyed in war. The people of Judah had to be slaves for their master in Exile. A priest Ezekiel was one of them and he delivered Word of God in hard work as slaves with his people in exile. His prophesy made people have a hope for future which God might save them some day.
One day God commended him in vision to go a deep valley and to say Word of God on dried bones there. Ezkiel did think the bones were not the living ones. The place was filled with that dried bone. But he obeyed and proclaimed Word of God on the great numbers of bones with no life.
Surprisingly when he delivered the Word of God, the bones began to move and become persons. They became soldiers and vast army consists of great warriors.
Verse 10 says,
“So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them they came to life and stood up on their feet, a vast army.
People have become pleased and had great hope once they listened to this prophesy from Ezekiel. They received this message as voice of God that can restore them in future. And they could have come back to their homeland 70 years after Babylon was destroyed by Persia.
This Word of God made them to keep passionate faith toward God in hard life of Exiles, and they became people of God with worshipping God in history.
Word of God heal all soul, life, society, even nation. His living Word restores all soul from sin or idols and make holy people in the world to be prepared for.
Word of God is power and life to restore all souls.
Johns’ Gospel 14:6 say,
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and he truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The way means the right passage to go to the exact destination safely without any obstruction. Only the way we can reach where we want to get.
Word of God is the Way!
What is the truth? The truth is what we can trust in life. There is no lie or fraud that destroys life. When we have truth, we can keep our precise life from any false things.
What is life? Life is the only source of life. We cannot keep living without this. And only God can give us this. God is creator of all live.
This is power of Word of God.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Jesus Christ did heal and restore all souls by this Word of God. He healed child of a synagogue head person and had Lazarus live again from death. And Jesus heal Zacchaeus to be righteous life from sinful life. Jesus changed vicious Saul to be graceful Paul delivering gospel to people of world.
No one can be changed once they confront with Word of God in life. Everyone has changed by the power of Word of God.
Gospel makes all life of all soul in any communities. Sinful Rome has been changed by Word of God. All nations and all people can be changed under hand of God even though in totalitarianism nations.
Let us pray for all nations and people to see God and to listen Word of living God so that they can be blessed as well. Our goal is to build reign of God in the earth not to build human reign in the world. When God reign there will come righteous and loving world.
Dried bones can be restored as worriers when they meet the power of Word of God.
Let us deliver Word of God to others and lead them worship. When they meet God, they will be blessed. This is our mission as children of God. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ all world will be blessed. Holy Spirit will help us to work for God.
Matthews’ Gospel 3:33 say,
“but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
A shaman lady repented her sin and baptized when she had listened in heart Word of God. She became faithful believer and invited her relatives and friends. They confessed all that they can be blessed by God from false blessing in idols past.
II Corinthians 2:12 say,
“We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.”
God be with all of you, Amen.
