“Servants Who Brought Water Knew” (John’s Gospel 2:1-11)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
Tariff negotiation team of South Korea last week reached an 15 % agreement of with US. This is same with EU and Japan which is ally nations. Other nations are higher than 25% or 35 %. This means US and South Korea began new stage as technology and security ally having same base of Christian faith and democracy system.
The creative idea of Korea negotiation team was excellent naming “MASGA”, Make American Shipbuilding Great Again.
Korea will be rebuilding shipbuilding industry in US. for US. This means that Korea might be key partner to support US industry and military in future. In the characteristic of US between South Korea ally, US have been protecting Korea but from now Korea begins to help US to keep the superpower by technology and faith social system.
The negotiation team seemed to know this important change and they accomplished their mission well.
Today Bible shows us the servant who knew grace happened in their work.
Let us rea together John’s Gospel 2:7-11
“Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water” so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” The master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside. And said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now. This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee, He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.”
Jesus was in a banquet with his disciples in a village of Cana, Gallie. His Mother Mary oversaw food of the banquet. In the middle of the banquet there was no more wine. Mother let Jesus know that and asked servants to obey him even though Jesus said my time has not yet come.
Jesus ordered servants to fill water in big jar in the house and to draw it and to take it to master of the banquet. Water had been turned into the best wine. People were enjoying great taste of the wine. Nobody knows where the wine came from, but the servant knew it.
Surprisingly there was no one who refused or doubted against Jesus’ order. Instead, they all obey with no question. They only did their responsibility as servants of the work. So, they could see how grace of God works in their life.
This is secrecy of grace of God. Grace comes to us secretly not publicly. Only those who obey that God asked can see the grace. Others can’t see that, so, this is secret and miracle that we confess.
Ther were many people at that banquet. They memorized last wine was better than the first day event. They did not know what happened to the wine. But only servants who draw and take it to the banquet knew that miracle was in the wine.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Let us serve God and work for work of God with sincere and diligent heart and mind. This is way to taste grace of God. There is nothing graceful if we do not do anything for Lord. If there is no responsibility nor burden, there are no grace or miracle as well.
The grace of God is flowing on the lower place of mind. In stubborn or pride mind there is not any more grace from God.
Only desperate and modesty mind can see grace from God as waterfall.
Even though this world are dark and dangerous, God is listening to the painful voice of His children from agony any time.
Let us come to His altar to ask always with steadfast heart and mind. This is our benefit and blessing before our Father in heaven.
Apostle Paul have been praying to God under in prison of Caesarea for 3 years so that God sent him to Rome with soldiers safely. Ans he could deliver gospel of Jesus Christ there as he hoped long time.
And he prayed during shipwreck situation and God Fastly answered him to save all the people in the ship with him.
Once we pray to God for life of my children, family, church, glory of God with deep and desperate heart, God will give us the grace and the miracle to save us from failure.
Acts 27:24-25 says,
“and said, Do not be afraid. Paul, You must stand trail before Caesar; and God has graciously given you lives of all who sail with you. So, keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.”
The meaning of powerful prayer is not my power but God’s power. This means I am not any power, but all are God’s power. My strength is only to rely on Him due to powerlessness. Our confess is to glorify God.
Let us come up to God for grace and love. Lord will answer you and give you best one for you.
One faithful lady has taken care of alone her six children to grow up well under hard situations. Somone asked her how to nurture in that difficult situation. She answered. “Only thing I could was to pray to God, that was the only way I could keep my children and my life. God made it not me.”
Philippians 4:6-7 say,
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your questions to Go. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
God be with all of you, Amen.
