“The Reason of God Calling Samuel” (I Samuel 3:7-11)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
Professor Taeyoo Kim said in his famous book "A nation with no young men", the society of Korea faces sharply population cliff. He points that in previous time three people took care of one person but from now on one person must take care of three people economically.
For remedy on this matter, AI and humanoid robot might be need in future society to support young people to take care of old generation.
Young labor populations from 25 to 55 years of age need to focus on high tech-based industry like AI. And those from 55 To 75 years of age need to focus experiences-based industry as management or judgement to keep GDP amount strong. This is an “Aftercrop" society.
He suggests a example "Hangju Sansung Battle" happened in 16 centuries of war " Imjinwoeran" between Korea and Japan. General Gwon Ryeul has defeated 30,000 Japanese army by 10,000 Korean army. He had 30,000 old people and women to carry arrows and stones and foods bring to support soldiers in frontline as logistics.
Young working population is familiar with high tech job with strong physical ability. They have fluid intelligence. Old working population is familiar with experience job. This is crystalized intelligence. If both generations are working together to cooperate to keep a nation’s wealth, they might be a great nation in future through high tech and efficient industry leading the world as Amsterdam of Netherland in 17 centuries.
God blessed Korea because they believed God as savior and Lord. They confessed that God saved themselves from hard painful history as Japanese occupation and hunger and oppression from communist war and authoritative regime. Through their great faith to God, they have been blessed to be free and peaceful society with various benefits and creative environment.
God always opens new doors through new people and new insight. So, we need to listen voice from God whenever new time comes with insight to see change of society.
Today Bible introduces God calls new servant in new era. God begins to call Samuel as new priest in changing world instead of priest Eli.
Let us read together I Samuel 3:9-11,
"So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” So, Samuel went and lay down in his place. 'The Lord cam and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” And the Lord said to Samuel: “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle."
Samuel grew up at sanctuary of holy place from baby age under care of priest Eli. He has been sleeping in the room beside the sanctuary. While sons of Eli ignored God, he obeys sincerely God and people as a little priest of holy place.
When he became young man, one day he listened voice of God as human voice in midnight four times. Eli taught him how to respond the voice of God when he saw Samuel listened voice of God as this " Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening."
From then Samuel became a great servant of God delivering the will of God to all people of Israel who was people of God. As Moses and Joshua in wilderness and Gideon and Samson in era of Judge, Samuel was used to be great leader of God leading His people as priest.
Josuah and Gideon were general, military leaders, and Saul and David were kings, but Samuel was a priest. However, his influence was big, and all people loved and respected him including King Saul and David.
This came from that Samul only obeyed the will of God.
The typical role of priest Eli to teach Samuel listen voice of God is the role of old generation to inherit faith to new generation. Adult generation has many experiences with God, and this is great treasure to children and their children generation.
We knew how to respond voice and hand of God. Our mission is to inherit it to the next generation successfully.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord,
We must do After cropping of faith to support our children live with sincere God. That is the best inheritance we can give in life. When they know how to be with God, their life will be blessed forever.
Deuteronomy 6:1-2 say,
"These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. So that you our children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life."
We, our generation must teach how to believe God to next generation with our best through eagerness to inherit. If we do with our best, al blessing from God will be forever in our children and their children.
Matthew's Gospel 28:20 say.
"And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age."
I confessed that God with us and our children when I listened great voices of many children to praise God in Do Dream Camp. This is our blessing from God to have opportunity teaching children in us to praise God.
Deuteronomy 32:7 say,
"Remember the days of old, consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you."
God be with all of you, Amen.
