“Be Strengthened Faith” (Romans 4:17-25)

May the grace and love of God is upon you who is listening God’s voice today in this worship.

There was a quarter final of under 23 ages of Olympic soccer game in tryout at Doha, Qatar. Indonesia soccer team leading Taeyong Shin, Korean coach defeated Korea team. Korea has been member of final of Olympic game for 40 years and Indonesia became first time after this match. Nationally great passion filled with people of Indonesia. After getting World Cup soccer game 2002 in semifinal, Korea team did not more challenge while other Asia nation team have been improving.

Through this event, Korea and other Asia nations’ soccer would improve together and more Korean coaches can contribute on improvement of neighbor nations.

Today Bible introduces that faith of Jew and gentile grows together without difference of the circumcised or not.

Let us read together Romans 4:19-24,

"Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead, since he was about a hundred years old, and that Sarah’s womb was dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory of God, Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”

The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, But also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness, for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead."

Apostle Paul sent this letter to congregation of church at Rome. There are issue about faith of the circumcised and not the circumcised. Jews were the circumcised and gentile were non-circumcised. Jews asserted the circumcised is necessary for all Christian because of Abraham, ancestor of all believers, got circumcised.

But Paul taught them that God called Abraham before circumcision through his faith to believe God not his deed. The righteousness of Abraham was his steadfast faith to trust and to believe God who is able to do possible all things impossible.

Today verse 18 says,

"Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Abraham and his wife Sarah had no child till his age of 75. When God promised him to give offspring through his child, he accepted with strong faith to believe God and acted immediate leaving his home town to new place where God directed him.

Brothers and sisters in the Lord,

What was his righteousness of Abraham? It was not his deed or his status but his faith to convince of God. That is why God blessed him among many people in his generation.

Today Bible also let us knows that God gave us same blessing that Abraham received.

Verse 23-24 says,

"The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, But also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness, for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead."

Folk,

This is great news to all believers as us!

God will give us same blessing to whoever believe and trust God who has risen Jesus Christ from the death again. If we believe in God who creates all life and Jesus Christ rose again from the dead for our salvation, it will be our righteousness to be saved as children of God.

The standard of being Children of God, the righteous is not deed as circumcision, moral, ability but confession to believe Jesus Christ as savior. If we have this steadfast faith we are inheritor of Abraham, the father of all believers in resulting resurrected and eternal life.

We are saved with justification by faith. We are blessed by grace of God not our deed. Let us think about this.

Let us live faithfully in worshipping, praying, delivering, and serving others in the name of Jesus Christ our God so that we are able to be fruits of faith with grace of Holy Spirit.

Let us serve our Lord with faithful and live joyfully with answers about reason of our great hope in us anytime.

I Peter 3:15 says,

"But in your heart set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."

Let us serve our Lord with our faith and love and live everyday with joy and grace that God gives us always.

God be with all of you, Amen.
