“Observe What God Requires” (I Kings 2:1-4)
May the grace and love of God is upon you who is listening God’s voice today in this worship.
Border between of US and Mexico are lots of Chinese illegal alien increased sharply from last year. They are coming from their country through Central America to US for better life. They are increased 30 times rather than previous years. They want to move for American dream to avoid economic difficulty and political hardship.
North Korea has law of violation of humiliating their leader. Otto Warmbier was typical victim. China recently made law of violation of spying on people traveling and causing extreme censorship on travelers in border. Open and free environment provides vital trade and economic growth. But Russia invaded neighbor nation and China and North Korea is gradually closing doors toward neighbor nations.
They are coming the way against their previous leaders as Deng Xiaoping, Gorbachev who raised economic growth of their own nation and prospered life of own people.
It is important for us to inherit. Depending on what we inherit we can be prosper or fall.
If we inherit good things we will prosper. But we inherit bad thing we will fail. Today Bible shows us what David inherits his son Solomon. He inherits best things to the son. It is Word of God!
Let us read together I Kings 2:1-4,
"When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son. “I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, show yourself a man, And that the Lord may keep his promise to me; And observe what the Lord your God requires; Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go, if your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fall to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
When David was about to die for old, he wanted to inherit best thing to his son Solomon.
He said "And observe what the Lord your God requires; Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go,"
King has great position to have everything but can be fragile to lose easily the place as well. His advice on son is to obey God and keep Word of God in lifelong.
David seems to trust ability of Solomon as king which is leader of great nation, Israel. But he thinks it is not enough. David inherits most important thing in life. That is Almighty God! This is obedience to God.
Brothers and sisters in Lord!
Keep in our mind that we need to obey His decree, commandment, rule and requirement. It means Everything God requires us. This will lead us prosper on physical and spiritual life.
The only reason David inherit his throne on Solomon was right person who build the House of God, holy temple.
If David wanted to make militarily or economically strong nation he would inherit other sons as Adonia or Absalom. But he listened voice of God and followed will of God so that inherited the throne on Solomon.
The important thing to build nation is not physical power but spiritual power. Once God is with us the nation can be prosper. It is only way to keep people and nation healthy and safe.
Ruler who fears God love people of God. Person who glorifies God can be raised by God before people. David knew this idea very well so inherited very important wisdom of wisdoms.
If you need to leave last Word to your children, you will inherit what David did on Solomon as well. We know God is everything and wants our children walk with Him in their lifelong. So that we pray for them every day in study, job, marriage, and success before God. This means we believe without help God our children cannot be success.
Let us inherit Word of God as David did on this child. Solomon made success and prosper era with wisdom from his father to raise name of God before people. God raised him before world.
He built House of God and made people worship God there. That is reason he received blessing from God. Worshipping life is blessed life!
Worshipping life, people, nations will be blessed to be prosper and healthy. But against worship will be perished.
God is creator and master of all creation, all life. Worship is what we have to do as creature of Him.
Ignoring God with human wisdom and human pride can be tower of Babel. What is Babel? It is disconnection and split.
Without God human being has to become disconnected and spilt. There were many nations in history to try strong one but only one to follow will of God and to love people became that they wanted. When we follow will of God we will become stronger spiritually and healthy physically.
North kingdom, Israel went to follow golden oxen in resulting decreased, and South kingdom, Judea went to follow Baal idol in resulting fallen finally. If they kept wisdom of David their nations was able to last longer than.
Cornelius went Judea as dispatched work but knew name of Jesus Christ there. After believing him as Lord he opened great way of saving souls by gospel in Roman world.
After the eunuch of king of Ethiopia received living gospel from Phillip deacon, he brought great news for his own people to save many soul from sin and judgement. Others became split.
Folks,
Only God is our blessing and fortress to keep safe in life.
Let us inherit Him on our children and neighbors so that keep and prosper what God gives.
One uneducated lady in Korea one century ago received gospel of Jesus Christ through a missionary. She kept in her mind this Word as truth and way of life. She has been worshipping her whole life and teaching this on her children. They became successful life with good educations and became great leaders of faith communities. They were inherited her mom's great advise to follow Word from God.
God is only source of all blessing on us.
Psalm 92:12-13 says,
"The righteous will flourish like a palm trees, they will grow life a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God."
God be with all of you. Amen.
