“God Let Him Alone” (Exodus 4:21-31)

May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.

Look of missile of North Korea and South Korea is very similar because of the design of it came from Russia. After corruption of former Soviet Union Russia was very poor economically late 1990. They borrowed $ 3 billion dollar from South Korea but repaid as weapon like missiles. They forgot to omit its key design once they gave it to as repayment.  Engineers of South Korea reversed software to understand its structure. So, they obtained finally heaviest one “Hyunmoo Missile” in the world by their own design to defend their land.

One day I was on the way to ride one guest to airport, suddenly he said that he missed his passport in housing, we had to return my car to pick it up. We were very hurry to do it. And he got on his airplane at the very last minute. Key points are very important. Without it we can lose everything we have done.

Today Bible let us know how much the key point of faith before God is important.

Let us read together Exodus 4:24-26,

“At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it.  “Surely, you are bridegroom of blood to me,” she said. So, the Lord let him alone. At that time, she said, “Bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.”

God called Moses in the desert at his age of 80. God gave him a stick of miracle and showed some miracle to let him believe God. Moses obeyed God and left the house of father-in-law, Jethro, leader of Midian tribe with his family, wife Zipporah, two sons Gershom, Eliezer, toward Egypt. Their journey to go back was smooth but suddenly God was about to kill Moses in the lodging place on the way.

Zipporah was fearful to lose her husband. She understood that God touched her by it. She did not want to go to Egypt and did not want circumcision on her son. But she had to go with her husband. The place where Moses had to go was not the place where she really wanted.

When Moses did circumcision on the first son, Zipporah did not please. She did not understand it, and Moses gave up on second son, Eliezer. She was a good partner with her husband in life but a hard rival in faith.

She understood that God wanted her to obey in that time. She immediately took a rough knife and cut off her son’s foreskin and touch husband feet with it, saying “Surely you are bridegroom of blood to me.” God released Moses to live.

Moses grew up in faith family while Zipporah grew up in different family. She had to spend time to learn how much God is great. After that accident, she understood God and could follow God and truly help her husband Moses who work for God.

As Moses was called from God at the burning bush, Zipporah was called at that time. God shows His reverence to servant and his helpers as well, so that they could work together for God’s glory.

Verse 26 say,

“So the Lord let him alone. At that time she said “Bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.”

Circumcision means “Born again from sin” to become children of God from secular world. This is same meaning with baptism. Old Testament has circumcision and New Testament has baptism. We must bear again from sin to be belonged to God not sin.

Moses has not done circumcision on his son because of his wife. God asked Zipporah to do it instead of Moses who loved his wife so could not do it.

Zipporah obeyed God and followed it according to will of God so she could save her husband, sons, and the mission to save people of God.

Brothers and sisters in the Lord.

God want us to be sound before him when we are called to do for God. God want us not enough as servant of God.

Let us see ourselves and seek what is lacked to be servant of God to serve people of God. And cut it off to become whole. We are not perfect, but God is perfect, so let us be sound to work for God.

We must shake off fresh things and to become Spiritual one. God pleases us to be great faith accomplishing will of God to save souls.

Like’s Gospel 9:62 say,

“Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is it for service in the Kingdom of God.”

In Act, Apostle Paul wanted to go east for delivering gospel. But at Troas, he was about to die due to dieses. God wanted him to go west. He found it and changed his plan toward God. When he obeyed God, God added him doctor Luke to take care of him in all journeys to gospel.

God’s plan is always first rather than my plan. Finding it is important for us to work for God. His plan is always better than us. When we obey and recover us spiritually to be clean as children of God, we can work done our true mission from God.

In Matthew 26:39, Jesus said, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

One tough guy became faithful believer, but his old habit swear was still in him especially, in soccer games that he liked. One day he did swear to a strange player in game of amateur morning soccer in his town. That game was stopped due to this fighting. His mood was bad and next day was Sunday. When he was ushering in front of church door where he ordained as deacon, the man, who was fighting with him in yesterday soccer game.

He was tormented and after that Sunday, he visited him to apologize. The player apologized to each other. After then, he made to cut off swear habits in his life. And two men became elders of that church later.

Hebrew 5:8-9 say,

“Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.”

God be with all of you, Amen.
